As I approach the Eucharistic Feast, to kneel with others in receptivity for the Bread and Wine of Life, I know this is the outward sign of an inner Happening. I find that the Meaning of this Feast is enhanced through the simple opening to receive. With hands open, the given Bread is received. With Chalice offered, the given Wine is received. I get nothing; I claim no rights, Here. No one owes me anything.
This is a profound Meaning in a grasping world. Here, to Know this Love, around this altar, I cannot get anything. I can only be given Something, only receive a Gift offered in sharing with others.
Possibly, this is the entire Spiritual Life ~ opening more fully to receive what Life, what Grace, gives. When I do this, I relish Life as a gift. When I do this, the meaning of Eucharist, "Thanksgiving," comes alive for me, and through me as Gift for others to receive. When I do this, I am affirming the Way of Life for all peoples, a Way transcending all ways that would divide us from one another and separate us from Life. When I receive this Bread and Wine, I do this for everyone, for I am One with each and all, in Presence, Grace Itself. When I do this, I, with others, am saying to the world, "I give myself. I am Gift. Receive me. Let us receive one another, in Love."
